Vision

Centrally located in Redwood City’s vibrant downtown at the corner of Main Street and Broadway, Hotel Sequoia will be one of the area’s most sophisticated and contemporary destinations for visitors and locals alike. Modern amenities such as high-speed internet, “smart” rooms and touchless check-in will make the hotel a top choice for business travelers. Locals will have a new place to meet friends for morning coffee or enjoy an evening cocktail on the rooftop bar. Whether you are traveling on business, need extra room for large family gatherings or want to meet a friend for lunch, Hotel Sequoia will have something for everyone.

Past, present, future

Dani and Alyn’s Story

The vision of local owners and managing members Dani Gasparini and Alyn Beals began many years ago. Alyn had a vision for Hotel Sequoia at the young age of seven, while Dani saw Hotel Sequoia as an anchor for downtown Redwood City while seated on the Redwood City Council. The restoration and rebuild of Hotel Sequoia is a passion project for Dani and Alyn. In 2010, they formed Sequoia Main Street LLC and purchased the hotel. As local owners and managing members, their vision is now taking shape.

“This hotel is not about Alyn and me, or our partners; it is about telling the story of this building, and how it was once at the center of innovation and the economy in Redwood City. Now we want to present a new vision for the future,” said Dani Gasparini.

The New Sustainability

“Preserving existing historic buildings is arguably the most effective form of sustainability. Our specialization in the rehabilitation of historic hotel structures dovetails beautifully with Dani and Alyn’s vision for the future life of Hotel Sequoia,” Marc Hornberger, AIA and lead architect for Hotel Sequoia.

Sustainability will be addressed at every stage of the project – design, construction, commissioning, and operation. The project will be designed in accordance with the latest California Building Codes including CalGreen Building Standards and Title 24 Standards and with advanced energy and water conservation measures. Construction materials waste will be recycled, and a third-party engineer will be responsible for commissioning the mechanical and electrical systems and controls to ensure they are operating efficiently. Finally, hotel operations will be centered around eco-friendly best practices in all aspects of daily operation.
